The festival of Navratri symbolises the victory of Goddess Durga on demon king Mahishasura. Each day of the Navratri is dedicated to nine incarnations of Maa Durga. The first begins with worshipping the first Devi called Mata Shailputri, followed by Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri on the ninth day. Navratri is an auspicious festival in which people observe fast and pray to the goddess for nine days. The festival holds great significance for all Hindus so those who offer prayer to the goddess and observe must follow some strict rules during these nine days for prosperity and wealth.
